ECR Spotlight – Paula Iturralde-Pólit
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Paula Iturralde-Pólit is an author on ‘ Variation in echolocation call emission of Neotropical insect-eating bats in response to shifting ambient temperatures’, published in JEB. Paula conducted the research described in this article while a PhD Student working in Gloriana Chaverri's lab at Universidad de Costa Rica – Sede del Sur. Paula is now a Special Programs Coordinator at Fundación Pachaysana in Ecuador, investigating how climate change impacts nature and communicating these insights beyond academia, leading experiential education to highlight the role of frontline communities as essential actors in protecting ecosystems.
