Working-Class History in a Populist Age
Abstract This article considers the politics and possibilities of writing labour history in a context where ‘the working class’ has been so effectively co-opted and interpellated by the populist right. What might working-class and labour history tell us about the uses of class in the twenty-first century? How might we think anew about that historiographical tradition in light of right-wing mobilizations of ‘the working class’? What sort of working class history might we want to create in and for a populist age?
