Synthesis of Cobalt(II) Semiconductor Complexes and the Magnetic Relaxation Modulation from 0D to 1D Structures

The hydrothermal reaction of CoCl 2 ·6H 2 O with a Schiff base ligand N 3 ‐(2‐pyrazinyl)‐3‐pyridinecarboxamidrazone (HL) afforded a mononuclear metal complex Co(L 1 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ( 1 ) (the ligand 2‐(5‐(pyridin‐3‐yl)‐1H‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐yl) pyrazine (HL 1 ) obtained through dehydration in situ reaction of HL). As KSCN was added to the abovementioned reaction system, a 1D chain–like complex [Co 2 (L 1 ) 2 (HL 1 ) 2 (SCN) 2 ] n ·2H 2 O ( 2 ) was yielded. The calculated bandgap energies E g = 2.20 eV ( 1 ) and E g = 1.93 eV ( 2 ) obtained from UV–Vis spectra suggest that 1 and 2 display fascinating semiconducting behavior. Additionally, both 1 and 2 exhibit slow magnetic relaxation behavior under direct current (dc) magnetic fields, confirming their bifunctional characteristics. This work not only offers a precise control strategy from zero‐dimensional (0D) to 1D structures, but also delves deeply into the influence of dimensions on the functional characteristics of the material. It provides an important reference for the development of 0D to 1D high‐performance multifunctionalmaterials.
