Robotic total extraperitoneal retro-rectus repair of the primary ventral hernia
Abstract Primary ventral hernias are a frequently encountered condition in general surgical practice. As minimally invasive techniques advance, more surgeons are adopting robotic approaches for precision, enhanced ergonomics, and superior visualization. The robotic total extraperitoneal retrorectus (rTEP-RR) repair technique allows optimal mesh placement in the retrorectus space while avoiding entry into the peritoneal cavity. This paper describes our method for rTEP-RR repair using the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System in a patient with an umbilical hernia.
