Visible-Light-Induced Metal-Free Radical Cascade Trifluoromethylation/Cyclization for Synthesis of Trifluoromethyl/Trifluoroethyl Tetrahydroquinolines

A visible-light-induced cascade radical trifluoromethylation/cyclization of the <i>N</i>-Boc-<i>N</i>-(isopentenyl)-arylamine with CF3Br has been developed to afford trifluoromethyl tetrahydroquinoline (THQ) derivatives in good yields. Meanwhile, when <i>N</i>-Boc-<i>N</i>-homoallyl-arylamines were used as substrates, trifluoroethyl tetrahydroquinoline derivatives were obtained. The process features advantages such as high regioselectivity, cheap and easily available trifluoromethyl source (CF3Br), and green energy.

The process features advantages such as high regioselectivity, cheap and easily available trifluoromethyl source (CF3Br), and green energy.
