Synergistic SnS 2 /Ni 2 P Nanocomposite: A High‐Performance Anode for Advanced Sodium‐Ion Batteries
Abstract This study presents the superior electrochemical performance of SnS 2 /Ni 2 P nanocomposite over SnS 2 and Ni 2 P as a potential anode material for SIBs. The structural and morphological characterization of the composite and the control samples synthesized by simple hydrothermal method was done by XRD, electron microscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopic techniques. The SnS 2 /Ni 2 P nanocomposite demonstrates enhanced electrochemical performance compared to control samples, attributed to synergistic effect in conductivity, structural stability, and interfacial kinetics, with improved rate capability, delivering a capacity of 723 and 571 mAh g −1 at a current density of 0.5 and 1 A g −1 in stark contrast to the 594 and 106 mAh g −1 and 155 and 20 mAh g −1 achieved by SnS 2 and Ni 2 P, respectively, at the same current densities. SnS 2 /Ni 2 P composite showcased a better cyclic stability retaining 69% of capacity after 50 cycles when passed through high current density up to 1 A g −1 with 38% and 10% capacity retention for SnS 2 and Ni 2 P, respectively.
