EFFICACY OF DIFFERENT WAVELENGTH LASER TREATMENT MODALITIES ON FACIAL TELANGIECTASIA

This systematic literature review of 6 clinical trials aimed to assess the efficacy of various wave-length laser treatment options for facial telangiectasias. A total of 271 subjects were involved in the studies. Intense pulsed light, pulsed dye, Neodymium-doped lasers at different wavelengths are employed for treatment of facial telangiectasia. While the Neodymium-doped lasers (1064 nm) demonstrated the highest clearance rate (95–100%) with minimal side effects, other studies indicated that combined approaches – broad-range pulsed light with a 1440 nm diode laser or the use of specific light filters to target vasculature could enhance treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction. Although studies report good to excellent outcomes, some authors report recurrence or moderate improvement, and data on long-term efficacy remain limited. In summary, current evidence points to Nd:YAG laser as one of the most effective treatment methods for facial telangiectasias, but further research is needed to establish optimal therapeutic protocols.
