Association Between Physical Activity Levels, Forward Head Posture, and Fall Risk in Older Adults
Objective : This research investigated relationships between forward head posture, physical activity, and balance in older adults to aid in fall prevention. Methods : Thirty-two participants assessed using Godin Shephard Leisure Time Physical Activity Questionnaire, craniovertebral angle (CVA), Functional Gait Assessment (FGA), Sensory Organization Test (SOT), and limits of stability (LOS). Results : Significant relationships identified for LOS average posterior and CVA ( P = .038), FGA ( P = .025), and SOT ( P = .036). Age had a significant inverse relationship with all variables. Age was the only predictor of FGA ( P = .005). Conclusion : Posterior LOS may be appropriate to assess fall risk in older adults.
