Insights of charged traversable wormholes within the context of matter–geometry coupled gravity

This work focuses on examining charged traversable wormhole geometries within the [Formula: see text] gravity theory, which extends general relativity by incorporating non-minimal matter–geometry coupling. We employ the Karmarkar condition to derive a shape function, which plays a crucial role in constructing the wormhole geometry. The constructed shape function meets the required geometric criteria and connects two distinct asymptotically flat regions of spacetime. Utilizing the Morris–Thorne spacetime, we analyze the wormhole configuration and formulate the gravitational equations for a chosen minimally coupled model in the modified gravity framework. Afterwards, we formulate three solutions by adopting the Lagrangian density in terms of different physical parameters and evaluate their feasibility by checking violations of the null energy conditions. To further evaluate the modified model, different stability methods are utilized to explore the resulting solutions. Our findings indicate that the constructed charged wormhole structures satisfy the required conditions and thus exist in this modified theory across all choices of the matter Lagrangian and model parameters.
