Study on the difference in AC thermal effects between insulated wires and bare wires in distribution networks
Ice cover disaster is an important factor threatening the safe operation of distribution networks, and the thermal effect of melting ice is significantly different between insulated wires and bare wires due to structural differences. This article compares and analyzes the thermal resistance and heat capacity characteristics of the two by establishing a thermal path model, revealing the influence of different levels of wires on the thermal effect of wires, and quantitatively analyzing this influence. Under the same cross-sectional area, bare wires, due to the lack of insulation protection, have significantly reduced thermal resistance and heat capacity during thermal conduction compared to insulated wires; And as the cross-sectional area of the wire increases, the difference in thermal resistance and heat capacity between the two types of wires becomes more significant.
