Simulation tests of shielding failure on transmission lines and analysis of forked strokes
This study investigates the shielding performance of a 500 kV AC transmission line under various influencing factors, based on extensive repeated experiments using a scaled-down physical model. The results show that the probability of shielding failure increases with the electrode inclination angle, and that the scale of the model significantly affects the test results. Discharge development under lightning impulses exhibits less path dispersion than that under switching impulses. A forked stroke phenomenon was observed during the experiments, and a preliminary analysis was conducted on the feasibility of reproducing such a phenomenon using the scaled model, providing a reference for future studies on forked strokes.
