Flexibility asessment method for new energy consumption taking into account the moderating role of pumped storage power plants
How to provide sufficient flexibility while ensuring economy is an important factor for the safe and stable operation of power grids. Relying on the Hunan Power Grid Project, a flexibility assessment method is proposed to take into account the regulating effect of pumped storage power plants. Kernel density estimation and copula function are applied to generate the scenarios of wind and solar power output, which are combined with the day-ahead power generation plan to quantify the flexibility demand. Then, combined with the supply capacity, the flexibility indexes are obtained, and the flexibility expectation and probability of insufficient flexibility are constructed as a minimum model. A correction coefficient is set according to the probability of insufficient flexibility for redistributing the amount of wind and light abandoned, and then pumped storage is added for comprehensive consideration to obtain the economically optimal downward flexibility enhancement means under different wind-solar penetration rates.
