DETERMINATION OF CHARACTERISTICS ACOUSTICS OF BLANKETS USED IN AUTOMOTIVE ACOUSTIC TREATMENTS
The acoustic comfort of a car is currently one of the most important parameters in the global automotive context. Popular and more affordable vehicles usually do not have any type of specialized acoustic treatment introduced at the time of their manufacture, and this attribute is often only present in premium category cars. However, these services often do not have any type of theoretical basis and some of the blankets used do not have any acoustic properties described on their packaging or mentioned by their manufacturers, nor do they have data from standardized acoustic tests carried out in laboratories accredited by INMETRO. This study is based on this context, which aims to experimentally test three of the most popular acoustic blankets on the market, using an acoustic impedance tube, to determine the acoustic properties of the products, such as sound absorption and sound transmission loss. Based on the experimental tests performed and the results obtained, it was found that while the first acoustic blanket has a higher absorption coefficient, the second and third blankets have more pronounced transmission loss levels.
