Acoustical Design of Krom Medya Film Studio Areas of Music and Fine Arts University in Ankara

The acoustic design of closed film studio spaces plays a crucial role in achieving optimal sound quality and minimizing unwanted reverberation. This paper discusses the acoustic design undertaken for six differently sized film studios located in the basement of the Music and Fine Arts University campus in Ankara. Through our experience, we identified several key criteria essential for the architectural and acoustic design of film studios. We emphasize the importance of sound insulation to prevent external noise interference. The strategic placement of acoustic panels and the use of sound-absorbing materials are critical for controlling reverberation times, which directly impact the clarity of sound recordings. The layout and geometry of each studio were meticulously planned to enhance acoustic performance. We outline specific design strategies implemented in our project, including the selection of materials and finishes that contribute to both aesthetic appeal and functional acoustic properties. This comprehensive approach not only enhances the user experience for filmmakers and sound engineers but also sets a standard for future film studio designs. Through this study, we aim to provide valuable insights and practical recommendations for architects and acoustic designers working in the field of film production.
