Acoustic analysis of a multi-purpose college auditorium
Acoustic analysis of multi-purpose spaces remains an important field of study, given the countless buildings that have yet to be evaluated, as well as the evolving demands that require updated data for new architectural designs. This study addresses the first need, as the multi-purpose college auditorium examined here, to the best of the authors' knowledge, had not undergone an acoustic analysis after construction. In Brazil, such spaces are very common, and due to their multi-purpose nature, they do not always provide the necessary acoustic variability. After applying the procedure outlined in ISO 3382-1 and comparing the results with previous literature, the authors found that this auditorium is more suitable for speech-related activities (lectures, conference presentations, theatrical plays, etc.) than for musical performances. These conclusions are supported by the results of T60, EDT, C80, D50, and STI.
