Exploration and Pilot Application of Monitoring-based Noise Maps in China
Urban noise maps were used in various countries as a tool to assess the noise impact on residents and develop noise mitigation action plans. With the development of noise monitoring technology and the improvement of data fusion applications, monitoring data has become increasingly important in noise mapping, forming a concept of monitoring-based noise maps. China has recently launched a pilot application led by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, focusing on monitoring noise maps. The progress of the pilot work was introduced in this article. The focus was on exploring how to establish and support the construction plan of a "monitoring type noise map" based mainly on measured data rather than simulation data in terms of technology. The latest progress of key technologies such as distributed noise measurement and data fusion methods was discussed, and their application in noise mapping was explored. Further prospects were made for the application scenarios of monitoring-based noise map technology to support urban noise management, providing reference and guidance for the further development and application of urban noise maps.
