Development of test method to predict the flow noise performance considering the effect of heat exchangers of clothes dryer by numerical analysis
The fan system in clothes dryer is a main part that performs drying performance. Also it is a main noise source in product. The heat exchanger that circulates the compressor refrigerant has characteristics that directly affect drying and flow performance as a system resistance. The purpose of this study is to develop a test method to predict the flow noise of the product by comparing the performance of a unit(fan-scroll), module(fan-scroll and heat exchangers) and to develop the numerical model for predicting it. This study leads to the following conclusions: First, it is experimentally analyzed the accuracy of the module is higher than unit system when predicting the flow noise performance of the dryer product. Second, Second, the influence of the heat exchanger diameter shape factor within the module system on flow rate and flow noise has been analyzed. Third, a numerical method is developed to predict the flow noise performance of the module system that includes a heat exchanger, and its validity is verified. Based on these, it is concluded the module system, which includes a heat exchanger, is essential for predicting the flow noise of the final product, and a numerical method for this prediction has been developed.
