Parameters and software in room acoustics simulations: systematic literature review on focus on verbal communication.
Through the systematic literature review method, this study aimed to identify the most widely used software in computational room acoustics simulations with parameters focused on verbal communication in indoor environments. A total of 44 publications from the last 10 years were analyzed, highlighting parameters such as reverberation time (T10, T15, T20, T30, T60), central time (Ts), early decay time (EDT), clarity (C50, C80), definition(D50), sound pressure level (SPL), and speech transmission index (STI). The study also examines the parameters adopted in the publications. It seeks to understand the limited use of STI, which appeared in 26% of publications from the last 5 years, increasing to 43% over the previous decade. The research aims to explore the reasons behind the non-adoption of this parameter, given that the focus of the publications is precisely on parameters related to verbal communication, making it contradictory not to use the primary parameter for speech intelligibility.
