Innovative solutions for aerial and structural noise control through cooperation between consultants and noise control producers
Innovative solutions for air- and structural-borne noise problems in buildings are shown, which derive from the close cooperation between consulting and fabrication companies, with strong academic foundations. Attention to the basic disturbance generation and propagation mechanisms, and to the dynamics of activities and equipment which produce it, together with the field experience on solving innumerous problems, render this cooperation very effective. Two such developments, which have been applied by the authors over more than two decades are presented, the first being on floating slabs and swimming pools, complemented with isolated ceilings, and the second in the noise control of air-cooled water chillers.
