Evaluation of the perception of urban soundscapes: a 360º video approach
The urban soundscape is formed by a variety of sound stimuli that influence the perception and experience of individuals. In this respect, the study investigates the soundscape in contrasting urban environments, examining how acoustic properties modify and affect listeners' perceptions. The methodology is based on simultaneous listening and viewing of 360° videos, followed by the application of a structured questionnaire to assess the participants' perception, in accordance with ISO 12913. Based on the analysis of the responses, we attempted to identify correlations between different sound attributes of different urban scenarios in the perception of the respondents. The results corroborated the understanding of how the different factors present within urban landscapes - presence of open spaces, traffic, natural sounds - affect people's perceptions, contributing as an essential factor in the environmental quality of cities.
