Noise Reduction Design for Dryer Multi-Blade Centrifugal Fan Using a Multi-Fidelity Model
In the wake of COVID-19, as interest in household appliance noise has grown, dryers have become essential electronic devices. This study aims to reduce noise by optimally designing the airflow of the multi-vane centrifugal fan and scroll-key factors in drying performance. To analyze the effects of various design variables, an extensive database is required; therefore, a large amount of data was obtained through low-cost, low-fidelity 2D analysis, while a relatively smaller dataset from high-cost, high-fidelity 3D analysis was used to build a multi-fidelity model. Subsequently, the application of a differential evolution algorithm to the trained model confirmed the potential to reduce noise and enhance drying performance through improved airflow. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the performance improvement of dryers and other household appliances, ultimately increasing user satisfaction.
