SUN-531 Characteristics and Lipid values of Korean Women with Gestational Diabetes by oral GTT subtype

Abstract Disclosure: K. Kim: None. C. Han: None. K. Ha: None. D. Kim: None. The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is increasing worldwide. We aimed to characterize the prevalence and the mid-trimester lipid profile of Korean women with GDM by OGTT subtype. A retrospective study examined women with singleton pregnancies at 24-28 weeks of gestation from November 2017 until October 2018 in Dongtan Jeil Women’s Hospital, Korea. Women over 1-hour 50 g glucose test stratified by 75-gram oral glucose tolerance test subtypes (normal glucose tolerance test [NGT 82-154-127 mg/dL], elevated fasting glucose only [fasting Hyperglycemia 95-160-126 mg/dL], elevated postload glucose only [postload Hyperglycemia 84-185-164 mg/dL], or both elevated fasting and postload glucose [combined Hyperglycemia 96-198-164 mg/dL]. Of 4407 women with 739 (16.8%) diagnosed GDM, fasting hyperglycemia group was 89 (12%), postload hyperglycemia group was 452 (61%), and combined hyperglycemia group was 498 (27%). Age (NGT 34.5: fasting H 35.5: postload H 35.4: combined H 36.1 years p< 0.001), pre-pregnancy BMI (NGT 21.8: fasting H 23.3: postload H 21.8: combined H 24.2 kg/m2p< 0.001) and weight gain until mid-trimester (NGT 6.6: fasting H 7.8: postload H 6.6: combined H 7.0 kg p= 0.003) were different. Fasting c-peptide (NGT 1.0: fasting H 1.3: postload H 1.0: combined H 1.9 p< 0.001), HOMA IR (NGT 1.0: fasting H 1.6: postload H 1.0: combined H 1.5 ng/mL p< 0.001), HOMA beta (NGT 102.2: fasting H 76.9: postload H 99.5: combined H 83.0 p< 0.001) and HbA1c (NGT 5.0: fasting H 5.2: postload H 5.0: combined H 5.2 % p< 0.001) were also different. LDL-cholesterol (NGT 131.0: fasting H 125.8: postload H 135.1: combined H 121.4 mg/dL p< 0.001) and TG level (NGT 211: fasting H 222: postload H 223: combined H 266 mg/dL p< 0.001) were particularly different. Unlike in the West, the prevalence of postload hyperglycemia group was significantly higher in Korean women with gestational diabetes, and elevated LDL-cholesterol were characteristically high in the postload hyperglycemia group.
