SAT-557 Insulin Autoimmune Syndrome - The Underdog of Hypoglycemia. A Case Report and Comparative Analysis
Abstract Disclosure: F. Urwa Tul Vusqa: None. K. Bally: None. K. Thrupthi: None. L. Soni: None. Since the discovery of Insulin Autoimmune Syndrome (IAS) in 1970, there are few reported cases of IAS. The most recent data shows only 795 reported cases of IAS since its first description. Most patients originate from Japan, and are over the age of 40, with equal distribution among sexes. It is uncommon in other races, specifically African Americans. Due to its rarity, workup is usually done for alternative etiologies, delaying appropriate treatment for IAS. This report highlights an uncommon case of IAS among a 54-year-old African American male who, after being misdiagnosed for many years, presented with remitting and relapsing symptoms despite being on appropriate treatment of IAS and eventually started on acarbose for hypoglycemia management. We also briefly review the current literature to discuss similar cases, their associated factors and treatment methods. Presentation: Saturday, July 12, 2025
