Research on the air supply pattern of stratified air conditioning device in large-scale building space
• Compares dual-range vs conventional air supply in large spaces by CFD simulation • Dual-range supply reduces air volume for terminal devices cutting energy consumption • Optimal AC airflow saves up to 9% building energy, guiding efficient design The temperature and velocity fields of the indoor space of the stratified air-conditioning end using the dual-range air supply method and the conventional air supply method are compared using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation of the airflow pattern and actual measurements, with the tall space of a typical building serving as the object of analysis. The simulation results show that the dual-range supply method can effectively improve the comfort of the airnear unit's near end and enhance the environment's overall homogeneity. When horizontal side-feeding and vertical down-feeding are used together, the air volume needed for end-end operation can be decreased by approximately 39%, provided that the comfort of the air supply remains essentially the same. The optimal airflow arrangement of dispersed air conditioners can result in a combined building energy savings rate of up to 9% when compared to conventional centralized air conditioners. The study's findings can serve as a point of reference for designing architectural areas withventilation and energy efficiency.
