#3370 Efficacy and safety of paediatric continuous veno-venous hemodialysis (CVVHD) with MultiFiltratePRO: a prospective multicenter study

Abstract Background and Aims Continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT), specifically continuous veno-venous haemodialysis (CVVHD), is a common clinical intervention in hospitalized children, particularly in paediatric intensive care units (PICU). The novel paediatric mode of the MultiFiltratePRO system offers a tailored approach for paediatric patients with specific needs related to body weight and clinical conditions, features a total blood priming volume of 116 mL, optimized for smaller paediatric patients. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of the MultiFiltratePRO paediatric mode by analysing its ability to deliver prescribed effluent doses and its impact on clinical parameters, including haemodynamic stability, electrolyte balance, and fluid overload correction. The study aims to provide evidence for the utility of this device in paediatric patients requiring CVVHD. Method This prospective, open-label, interventional, multicenter study aims to enroll 42 paediatric patients (aged <18 years, 8–40 kg body weight) for CVVHD indication. Patients will be treated for a maximum of 10 days, based on investigator´s decision, and data will be collected every 24 hours. Statistical analyses will include descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing to evaluate outcomes upon study completion. Results This study expects to achieve at least 80% of the prescribed effluent dose at 72 hours, demonstrating the performance of the MultiFiltratePRO paediatric mode. Additional anticipated findings include correction of electrolyte, acid-base imbalances, haemodynamic instability and data on circuit longevity, and solute clearance. These results will collectively validate the efficacy and safety of this system. Conclusion The paediatric mode of MultiFiltratePRO is hypothesized to demonstrate efficacy and safety in delivering prescribed CVVHD effluent doses. This study is expected to provide valuable evidence to support its clinical use in paediatric CVVHD indication, with results contributing to future practices.
