Escin lysinate effectiveness for edema correction in various zones
Escin is a mixture of triterpene sapoglycosides with direct anti-exudative action and additional endothelium-protective, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antioxidant effects. In this review, we analyze the evidence on clinical effectiveness of escin drugs as anti-edematous agents in different disorders and conditions. The greatest amount of evidence supports incorporation of escin lysinate into the treatment of traumatic brain injury and cerebrovascular accidents. Parenteral administration of escin lysinate in acute phase accelerates regression of brain edema, improves overall survival and promotes functional recovery.
