Probiotics in the treatment and prevention of vaginitis in pregnant women
Vaginitis is a common cause of vaginal discharge in pregnant women, and increases the risk of negative outcomes such as premature birth, spontaneous abortion, premature discharge of amniotic fluid, and stillbirth. The microbiota of aerobic vaginitis consists of microorganisms of intestinal origin, and Streptococcus agalactiae, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Klebsiella pneumoniae are the most common. For the treatment of vaginitis, drugs are prescribed that are ineffective in a number of cases, and therefore the addition of pro- and autoprobiotics to the treatment regimen for vaginitis not only promotes the rapid restoration of the vaginal microbiota, but also leads to a decrease in relapses, the physiological course of pregnancy, and a decrease in the incidence of complications.
