Process parameter optimization and springback compensation in stamping of high-strength steel complex beams

Purpose The study aims to solve the defects of the automotive irregular beam during the forming process. Design/methodology/approach This work uses a method of multi-objective optimization and springback compensation based on finite element numerical simulation technology. Findings Finally, simulations and trial productions were conducted to compare the thickness and thinning rates of the actual and simulated parts at the same locations. The findings indicated that the thickness and thinning rates were similar, confirming the optimization strategy's effectiveness. Originality/value To further improve the defects during the forming of irregular beams, a combination of numerical simulation technology and response surface methodology was adopted to establish a response surface model. This model analyzes the influence of univariate and multivariate interactions on the forming quality, with Design Expert 13.0 software used to identify the best process parameter combination.
