A bibliometric review on green hydrogen as an alternative for combined generation systems

Abstract The integration of green hydrogen into combined generation systems brings the possibility of increasing energy efficiency and reducing pollutant emissions. This combination is especially useful in plants that use seasonal energy sources, such as solar, wind, and biomass. Thus, the production of green hydrogen makes it possible to take advantage of excess electrical energy that is not consumed, generating fuel with a low environmental impact. In this context, this study aims to investigate all articles published up to October 2022 in the Scopus database, dealing with energy multigeneration systems that produce or use green hydrogen. The VOSviewer software was used to conduct a bibliometric review capable of exploring the retrospective of this research field and understanding trends, patterns, and gaps in the literature. Aspects such as publication journals, affiliation of key researchers, keywords, and main authors in this research field were evaluated. The review pointed to a strong growth trend in research on multigeneration systems using green hydrogen, especially in the thermodynamic analysis of plants and in the development of technologies for energy production and storage.
