RE: Impact of daily adaptive head and neck radiotherapy on toxicity and quality of life: results of the DARTBOARD phase II randomized trial
The DARTBOARD trial by Sher et al. ( 1) is a landmark study, as it represents the first randomized experience of daily adaptive radiotherapy (DART) for head and neck cancer. The authors show that near-marginless adaptive treatment is oncologically safe, with survival and recurrence outcomes comparable to standard IGRT, and dosimetrically advantageous, with significantly lower doses to salivary glands, mucosa, and skin.
