Ultrasonic Insights into Molecular Interactions in Polymer PVA/PEG Blends with ADP

ABSTRACT This study investigates the structural, acoustic, and optical properties of a polymer mixture composed of fixed concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), with varying concentrations of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) at 0.4%, 0.8%, and 1.2%. The solutions were analyzed at different temperatures (303, 313, 323, and 333 K) under a constant ultrasonic frequency of 5 MHz. The main aim is to comprehend the impact of ADP concentration and temperature on the acoustic and optical properties of the polymer blend, focusing on molecular interaction and miscibility. Experimental determinations of ultrasonic velocity, density, and viscosity were employed in the calculation of derived acoustic parameters like adiabatic compressibility (β), free length (L f ), acoustic impedance (Z), and relaxation time (τ). These parameters provide information about intermolecular interactions, structural behavior, and miscibility within the polymer blend. Furthermore, Spectroscopic analyses such as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), UV–vis, and photoluminescence (PL) measurements were carried out to examine the structural properties, chemical bonding, and electronic transitions in the system. The combined acoustic and spectroscopic strategy offer a thorough insight into the physicochemical characteristics of the polymer solutions, providing valuable inputs toward the development of functional polymer materials for industrial and research.
