Tuning Triboelectric Energy Harvesting Performance of Nonwoven‐Based Materials through Electro‐Assisted Deposition of Polyvinylidene Fluoride Layer

Triboelectric energy harvesting technique is emerging rapidly, in the context of energy crisis and self‐powered electronics, because of its remarkable benefits. In this work, electrospinning technique has been employed to produce various surface morphologies and structural conformations of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) onto base nonwoven substrates. During electro‐assisted deposition, the parameters have been altered in a systematic fashion to tailor surface roughness and work function of coatings, both of these influences the triboelectric energy harvesting performance. The device made of optimum sample could charge capacitor and light up LED, demanding the electronic applications of such coated nonwoven materials. Moreover, the device can efficiently perform as a water level indicator as revealed in the present study.
