Sustainable Innovations in Wastewater Treatment: Bridging Artificial Intelligence and Green Technologies
ABSTRACT Smart water management requires wastewater treatment for environmental sustainability and public health by efficiently eliminating pollutants and lowering emissions. Strict regulations may pose challenges and create opportunities for sustainable wastewater treatment systems. Advanced methods are used to recover nutrients, renewable energy, and drinking water from wastewater. Researchers have worked hard to improve treatment efficacy, lower operational costs, and save energy. Continuous development requires advanced treatment technologies and reliable monitoring and control systems. This study emphasizes the progress of wastewater treatment by examining automated process control and sustainable technologies in wastewater treatment facilities. This study shows how AI and ML can improve monitoring and treatment optimization. This review also discusses the shortcomings, creative solutions, and future prospects of wastewater treatment. A financial analysis of conventional and new treatment technologies reveals the sustainability and economic viability of current and future wastewater treatment systems. This analysis is crucial for decision‐makers, students, and professionals in building robust, affordable, and equitable wastewater treatment systems.
