A Portrait of Communication Skills, Creativity, and Leadership of School Children in the Malind Community

Communication, creativity, and leadership are essential skills that individuals must possess to compete in a globalized world, preserve natural resources, and maintain environmental sustainability. Therefore, these variables are considered important. However, the current situation shows the opposite, many young people face obstacles in developing their creativity, communication, and leadership skills, which are influenced by various factors. The purpose of this study is to describe the communication, creativity, and leadership abilities of school-age children. The research subjects consisted of 40 school-age children aged 11–15 years. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach to examine the profile of communication, creativity, and leadership skills. Data were collected through questionnaires and tests: the questionnaire was used to measure communication and leadership skills, while creativity was assessed using a written test adapted to the children’s developmental level. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model consisting of three main components: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing (verification). The findings revealed that most school-age children demonstrated moderate levels of communication, creativity, and leadership skills. However, creativity appeared to face significant challenges, with the majority of children categorized as having insufficient levels of creativity. Several factors contribute to this condition, including low socioeconomic status, suboptimal teaching methods that fail to encourage creativity, unsupportive learning environments, low student motivation, and limited educational facilities. The implications of this study highlight the need for the development of more innovative, participatory, and well-supported educational strategies to enhance communication, creativity, and leadership skills among school-age children.
