Evaluation of subclinical right ventricle systolic function by speckle tracking in Patients With non alcholic fatty liver

Background; Heart disease and cerebrovascular disease are independently predicted by nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is often regarded as the characteristic of liver involvement in the metabolic syndrome. Furthermore, NAFLD has been linked to vascular and cardiac subclinical alterations that are known to occur prior to significant cardiovascular events. Our work: to evaluate subclinical RV systolic function by speckle tracking echocardiography in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Methods; this cross sectional was done at hepatology and gastroenterology and Cardiology Departments, Zagazig University Hospitals. This study was conducted on 62 nonalcoholic liver steatosis patients diagnosed primarily by transabdominal ultrasonography Patients were divided into three grades: Grade 1: 18 patients, Grade 2: 20 patients and Grade 3: 24 patients. Result; after applying logistic regression analysis for predictors of systolic dysfunction HTN, NAFLD grades and LVEF still can be used as independent factors for predicting systolic dysfunction among the studied groups, there was significant negative correlation between NASH score and RV GLS, there was no correlation between LV GLS and RV GLS. Conclusion; We concluded that both hypertension and the severity of NAFLD, as well as a reduced LVEF, serve as important factors for predicting systolic dysfunction. Additionally, the negative correlation between NASH score and RV GLS suggests that worsening liver disease may have a direct detrimental effect on right ventricular function
