Radiative Heat Transfer in Three-Body Moiré Elliptical System
Over the past decade, remarkable advancements in the field of moiré physics, such as superconductivity, tunable bulk photovoltaic effect, and topological conducting channels, have excited tremendous interest in moiré science. However, as a critical aspect of heat transfer processes, the response of thermal photon transport under moiré modulation remains largely unexplored. Using an anisotropic trilayer graphene platform, we reveal moiré-mediated thermal photon behavior supporting elliptical anisotropy in many-body systems. Twisting the intermediate layer generates moiré-induced suppression of radiative heat transfer, with intensity positively correlated to the degree of anisotropy. This originates from strong moiré-selective transmission enabled by moiré interference under high anisotropy. Additionally, we investigate asymmetric systems by introducing anisotropic asymmetry, revealing that this anisotropy-dependent modulation still persists. Notably, the suppression effect in asymmetric systems is weaker than that in symmetric systems, which contradicts the conventional wisdom that symmetry breaking is negatively correlated with photonic tunneling capability. We demonstrate complex selective thermal photon transport in anisotropic moiré many-body systems, establishing a multidimensional and multileveled modulation paradigm, enabling new perspectives concerning thermal management at the nanoscale, actively engineered near-field thermal radiation, and photonic energy harvesting techniques.
