MWCNT‐Modified Concrete: Role of Sand Cement Ratio
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of varying dosages of Multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the mechanical properties of concrete for different sand‐to‐cement ratios. Carbon nano materials have exceptional tensile strength, high aspect ratio, and nano scale dimensions. Composite materials formed with a combination of carbon nanotubes (CNT) and Carbon Nano Fibers (CNF) are the two most potential materials used in cement concrete. In the present paper, Multi Walled Carbon Nano Tubes (MWCNTs) are used, and their properties, like compressive strength for concrete cubes, split tensile strength for concrete cylinders, and flexural strength for concrete beams, were evaluated mechanically. Based on the findings of the study, composites containing 0.025%, 0.035%, and 0.045% of MWCNT and Sand to cement ratios of 1.20, 1.37, and 1.60 were used. Comparing the % use of MWCNTs with and without the use of MWCNTs to concrete samples for optimal dosage of MWCNTs, notable improvement in strength and mechanical properties of concrete was observed.
