Simultaneously Determination of Miconazole Nitrate and Mometasone Furoate Macromolecules by Dual Wavelengths Method

ABSTRACT A simple, sensitive, and cost‐effective spectrophotometric method was developed to determine the concentrations of mometasone furoate (MOM) and miconazole nitrate (MIC) macromolecules in both their pure forms and in pharmaceutical preparations, using a dual‐wavelength approach. A wavelength scan was performed between 200 and 400 nm, identifying 244 and 260 nm as optimal wavelengths; at these wavelengths, mometasone furoate exhibited zero absorbance difference, while miconazole nitrite displayed a measurable difference in absorbance that was directly proportional to its concentration. For the determination of MOM, wavelengths of 269 and 278 nm were selected. The difference in absorbance at these two wavelengths correlated consistently with MOM concentrations, while the absorbance difference for MIC remained zero. The analytical method for MIC demonstrated linearity between 25 and 125 µg/mL, and for MOM, it was linear between 5 and 75 µg/mL. The correlation coefficients for the two compounds were 0.9991 for MIC and 0.9995 for MOM. The limits of detection were 0.54832 µg/mL for MIC and 0.09118 µg/mL for MOM, while the limits of estimation were 1.82775 µg/mL for MIC and 0.30394 µg/mL for MOM. Additionally, recall the precision and agreement values of the calibration curves. The method was successfully applied to the quantification of miconazole nitrite and mometasone furoate in their pharmaceutical preparations.
