Cyclic Loading Behavior of PEEK‐HA Bio‐Composites: A Finite Element Study for Prosthetic Applications

ABSTRACT Fully compatible high‐performance materials serve as a vital key to enhancing prosthetic devices. This research evaluates the cyclic loading response of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) composites strengthened with hydroxyapatite (HA) additions of different percentages. The analysis included material groups consisting of pure PEEK and two variants with 5% HA and 15% HA. A three‐point bending test performed in ANSYS through finite element analysis allowed us to load the structure cyclically from 0 to 2985 N throughout 398 cycles. The research measured significant mechanical outputs that involved stress readings and strain values with data on material deformation. Results from the experiment show that a rise in HA concentration in the composite translates into an increase in the number of deformations that corresponds with a change in modulus properties. The findings show that using HA reinforcement makes it possible to analyze how the mechanical response of PEEK composites behaves to repeated loading, which improves prosthetic components.
