WAA apheresis registry
Therapeutic apheresis (TA) was initiated by Yurevich in 1913 on rabbits as an attempt to detoxify the blood. The experiment was repeated by Abel and colleges in 1914 [6]. Nowadays, therapeutic apheresis (TA) is a common treatment used for many different diagnoses, with indications listed in the American Society For Apheresis (ASFA) guideline [1]. Over the years, numerous different devices have been established [10] and used for different diseases. National reports have developed to clarify trends in indications and methods used, as well as the incidence of adverse events, and the panorama and severity of them.
