Economic operation optimization study of farm biogas-photovoltaic distributed generation system
Farm biogas-photovoltaic distributed generation (BPDG) systems, utilizing waste manure and idle roofs of farms to achieve energy self-sufficiency, are an effective way to promote sustainable energy development and combat climate change. However, the development of farm BPDG in China has been slow, indicating a need for further research on the economics of such projects. Therefore, this paper establishes an economic operation optimization model and an economic evaluation model considering the electricity market and carbon market. In order to verify the validity and applicability of the model, NS pig farms in China are selected for a multi-scenario arithmetic analysis. The results show that farm BPDG enables energy self-sufficiency, and the net present value (NPV) of the project is $2556.37 thousand the internal rate of return (IRR) is 18.43 %, the dynamic payback time is 8.8 years. The greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction reaches 244328.87t eqCO 2 . Finally, based on the findings of the study, policy recommendations for the development of farm BPDG are put forward. The study proposes new ideas for sustainable energy development and economic growth, and also provides an effective reference for investor around the world. • Distributed generation using biomass, solar energy and idle rooftop resources. • Economic operation optimization model and economic evaluation model are developed. • Participation in electricity trading and carbon trading. • Benefits of greenhouse gas emission reductions are internalized as economic benefits.
