Reproducible DNA thin films prepared by laser molecular beam deposition for water detection

Abstract The reliable, accurate, and quick detection of trace amounts of water is crucial in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. We previously developed a highly sensitive and selective water sensor that surpassed the industry standard Karl Fischer titration in simplicity and efficiency. Here, we present laser molecular beam deposition (LMBD) fabrication of a water sensor as an approach for the mass production of standardized and consistent units. The LMBD-fabricated sensor demonstrates altered morphology, but it maintains high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting water.
