Effects of acentric twisted tape on heat transfer and flow in tubes
The central twisted tapes insertion techniques inside tubes have been used widely to improve heat and flow characteristics because of their easy manufacture and set-up. However, the case of acentric twisted tape passively mounted has not been investigated yet which is the core of the current work to fill this gap of research. The novel configurations of acentric twisted tapes are numerically analysed in a tube under extremely intensified flow (Re from 15000 to 55000, turbulent air flow, the tube surface is subjected to constant heat flux of 750 W/m 2 ). The common flow and heat parameters like Nusselt number (Nu), friction factor (f) and the total performance factor (TPF) in 12 cases apart from the plain tube (empty tube) are recognized and discussed. The unique presented approaches show that the acentric twisted tapes boosts heat transfer rate as well as friction and moreover drive less friction than the centric (typical) twisted tape case.
