Clinical Features of Restless Legs Syndrome
Introduction: Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a highly prevalent condition in the general population, although it is rarely diagnosed. For this reason, its clinical presentation continues to have multiple aspects that are confusing or contradictory. Methods: A total of 40 patients diagnosed with RLS were included in this cross-sectional study. They were questioned about the clinical characteristics of their condition.Frequency analysis was applied to the collected data. Results: Of the 40 patients, 23 were male and 17 were female.Their ages ranged from 17 to 64 years. All presented with a combination of symptoms, and most clearly progressive symptoms. The most common symptoms were insomnia and a burning sensation in the feet.Without treatment, the frequency of symptom onset ranged from 1 to 7 days per week.Discussion: Restless legs syndrome is a common sleep disease, although it is not usually diagnosed early. It is a progressive disorder that can significantly affect the quality of life of those who suffer from it.
