International Session 12 Cancer Prognosis
Mucosal melanoma(MM)is a very rare disease. The primary treatment for head and neck MM is surgery, but due to anatomic constraints, heavy ion radiotherapy is often used in recent years.MM frequently presents with distant metastases.Additionally, treatments effective for cutaneous melanoma have been reported to have lower response rates in MM, resulting in a poor prognosis.Recent studies have shown that BRAF mutations, which account for approximately 50 of cutaneous melanoma, are only present in 5 of MM.Furthermore, abnormal activation of the CDK4 signaling pathway have been reported.Dysregulation of CDK plays a central role in tumor formation, and CDK4/6 inhibitors have been clinically applied to various malignancies.Exploring the role of CDK4/6 and signaling pathways in MM is important for the development of new treatments. In this study, we conducted cell proliferation assay using cell lines derived from MM.To evaluate cell proliferation markers and the CDK4/6 signaling pathway, we performed immunohistochemical analysis and Western blotting. We report on the potential of CDK4/6 inhibitors as promising targets for molecular targeted therapies.
