Vaccination Strategies for Premature Infants in India: A Narrative Review
A BSTRACT Preterm babies are more vulnerable to infections, including illnesses that can be prevented with vaccinations. The immunization problems that premature infants in India face are covered in this article. The immaturity of these infant’s immune systems is discussed which puts them at a higher risk of hospitalization and mortality from illnesses for which vaccinations are preventative. Immunization delays caused by illiteracy, concerns about vaccine efficacy and safety, and complications during childbirth are significant issues. These babies are more susceptible to illnesses that can be avoided by vaccination because of their immature immune systems. The resources used for research in this review included databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar. This review aims to raise awareness, demonstrate the need for early vaccination, and reduce the risk of infections and associated complications in infants born before their due date.
