Effects of Pellet Size and Layering Structure of Pellet‐Type Anode on Performance and Efficiency of Rechargeable Aluminum–Air Battery

This study examined the performance and efficiency changes of aluminum–air batteries (AAB) using pellet‐type aluminum anodes, focusing on the effects of pellet size and layering structure. The extent of side reactions and battery performance associated with different pellet sizes and layering structures is compared through potentiodynamic polarization tests and galvanostatic battery discharge tests. Additionally, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy are employed to analyze the surfaces of the pellets after discharge tests, with particular attention to the layering structure. The results indicated that larger pellet size and a bi‐layered structure reduce the anode weight loss and improve the energy density of AAB. These results provide insights into the performance and efficiency trends of AABs‐based on pellet size and layering structure for pellet‐type anodes, suggesting that optimizing these factors can effectively improve the performance and efficiency of AABs.
