A Rare Presentation of Guillain-Barré Syndrome: Pure Sensory Variant with Facial Palsy and Autonomic Dysfunction
Key Clinical MessagePure sensory Guillain-Barr syndrome (GBS) is a rare variant and should be considered in patients presenting with acute sensory ataxia and areflexia, even when motor conduction studies are normal.Cranial nerve involvement and autonomic dysfunction can occur in sensory-predominant GBS, broadening the clinical spectrum of this uncommon subtype.Early initiation of immunotherapy, such as plasma exchange, can result in favorable functional recovery even in atypical GBS presentations.
