Silver‐Assisted Quality Growth of Black Phosphorus Microribbons

Abstract Black phosphorus (BP) nanoribbons, featuring a width‐tunable direct bandgap, enhanced quantum confinement, and anisotropic edge‐dependent properties, emerge as ideal candidates for next‐generation electronic and photonic applications. However, the synthesis of high‐quality one dimensional (1D) BP structures remains a considerable challenge. Here, a silver‐assisted chemical vapor transport is reported for the fabrication of single‐crystalline BP microribbons with preferential zigzag edges. The incorporation of silver not only reduces the nucleation energy of BP domains but also suppresses armchair‐directional growth, thereby promoting anisotropic microribbon formation. The obtained BP microribbons exhibit high crystallinity, with widths ranging from ≈2 to 80 µm, lengths extending to 1 cm, and aspect ratios exceeding 1,000. Photodetectors based on individual microribbons demonstrate broadband photo‐response spanning visible to near‐infrared wavelengths, achieving a responsivity of up to 35 and 12 mA W −1 at 532 and 1064 nm, respectively. This work provides a practical route for fabricating quasi‐1D BP nanostructures suitable for integration into functional devices.
