Optimal Design of Square Wave Pulse Transformer with Short Rise Time
Abstract: Pulses used in radar systems, linear accelerators, and in Klystron and magnetrons require square waves with short rise times and small overshoot. However, the high-voltage pulse transformer designed and manufactured has a large leakage inductance and a constant di-stributed capacitance, which results in a long rise time and a large overshoot. In this paper, an analysis of the structure size of the pulse transformer to reduce the rise time of the pulse and propose a method to obtain the optimum result were investigated. And the correctness of the proposed design results is verified by analyzing the relationship between the influence of core material and switching speed and the Klystron (electron tube) with nonlinear inductance characteristics.
